been running a fun multiclass ranger myself lately, a wood elf named Leeph Ouksuhn intend to go ranger 7 rogue 7 fighter 3 monk 3,went wood elf for obvious stealth/dex reasons but also because with the large amount of multiclassing is justifiable by way of you can learn a lot in a 500+ year lifespan.
I am building a paladin/sorcerer multiclass character that's focused on nova damage, using sorcerer spell slots to fuel Divine Smites. My current plan is something like Paladin 6/Sorcerer 14, in order to get the Aura of Protection. I've been thinking about adding a level of warlock (hexblade) after Paladin 6 but before taking sorcerer levels.

Warlock is well known to be pretty heavily front-loaded, so you tend to get less and less out of continuing down warlock as you level up.
However, perhaps the biggest drawback of multiclassing is getting it started. Many "builds" online detail a character at level 20, with 10 Bard levels, 7 Fighter levels, and 3 Rogue levels. However, your average multiclass will take more time than a single class to "power spike."
